Up next on Rising Talent is Drone Flesh, an experimental electronic musician from Switzerland. His style is very unique, as they says they like to “ignore the rules,” and they certainly shows their lack of artistic restriction with “Petrified.” Starting off with a disco/trance-esque vibe, and resampled vocals and drums, the song immediately plunges the listener into what feels like an action-movie fever dream.
As the song progresses, it throws in the bassline, a dirty, underground styled bass, along with a slew of drums and atypical beats. The best one could describe this style is a mix of chase scene music you’d expect from action thrillers like blade runner, and club music you’d expect from the underground EDM/IDM scene of the 90’s. A true callback to a long-forgotten, experimental style, Petrified is certainly a song true EDM fans will enjoy.
