PAUZA Drop Afro-Cuban House Remix Of ‘Plaza de Gloria’ On FLAMENCA Records

PAUZA takes the second release on FLAMENCA Records with a Afro-Cuban House edit of STBAN and Sandra Carrasco’s ‘Plaza de Gloria’.

As spring turns to summer and global dance floors heat up, FLAMENCA Records drops their second release, PAUZA’s scorching Afro-Cuban House edit of the STBAN and Sandra Carrasco production ‘Plaza de Gloria’.

Rooted in traditional flamenco and forming part of STBAN’s live show FLAMENCA, PAUZA reimagine ‘Plaza de Gloria’ with a remix that blends Cuban tradition with Andalusian folklore, celebrating the original’s brass, percussion and Spanish guitar, the latter provided by influential guitarist, composer and Ketama member Josemi Carmona. The haunting topline from critically acclaimed, award winning flamenco singer Sandra Carrasco weaves in and out of the composition, floating high above syncopated claps before thrusting back down deep inside reverberating house rhythms and hypnotic, undulating basslines. The combination makes it an instant, sultry addition to any DJ set and underlines why FLAMENCA Records boss STBAN invited PAUZA onto the label.

Hailing from Havana, Cuban duo PAUZA – Paula ‘Pau’ Fernandez and Zahira ‘Zahi’ Sanchez – were always going to be a natural fit for STBAN’s FLAMENCA project. Leaning into a similar ideology of sharing the traditional music and folkloric styles of their homeland through modern electronica, the pair have been critically acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone, LA Times, NYLON, Vice and DJ Mag LATAM. Infusing their work with Latin rhythms and Cuban sentiments the duo, Cuba’s first female DJ pairing, see their music as a natural and vibrant extension of the lifestyle they live every day on the island.

In this new version, Yoruba drums and Afro-Cuban rhythms intertwine with southern Spanish palmas, cajón, and melodies — creating a sonic dialogue between two cultures rooted in heritage, rhythm, and resistance,” the duo explained. “Deep percussion and electronic elements bridge Havana and Spain in a remix that honors spirituality, feminine strength, and the powerful folk legacy that inspired the original track.

The track is accompanied by a video shot on location in the streets of Seville, another nod to flamenco’s heritage from STBAN after his Marrakech video for previous single ‘La Palma‘. “The song ‘Plaza de Gloria’ is all about personal transformation,” the FLAMENCA boss said, “and so in the video we show a woman who throws off what no longer serves her and instead follows her heart, reconnecting with herself through culture, movement and community. The Feria – or the carnival – becomes a space of emotional release, through our rhythms and traditions. You can feel her find the joy, the freedom, the confidence to reclaim her identity on her own terms. It’s a true celebration of becoming, of dancing like nobody’s watching, of becoming her own Plaza de Gloria.
