As Synthesis moves into the next phase of their journey, they remain focused on refining their sound while staying true to their eclectic influences. With a handful of new tracks in the pipeline and a willingness to embrace emerging technology like AI in music production, they’re looking ahead with both creativity and curiosity. Their latest release, ‘Going Back To My Roots’, showcased their ability to blend past and present, but as they reveal, the tracks lined up for 2025 will push their vision even further.
We caught up with Synthesis to talk about what’s next for the project, the evolving sounds of Electronic Music, and their goals for the year ahead.
Hi, how’s it going?
Very well thank you!
What has you most excited as you look ahead to the next phase of the Synthesis journey?
This year we are planning to release final versions of songs we started in 2024 with some going through some pretty drastic re-workings.
Are there any upcoming tracks or projects in the pipeline that listeners should keep an eye out for?
Yes, our next track is called ‘All These Years’ and we feel that it’s the best track we have ever done.
What are your main goals for the Synthesis project this year?
We have about 3 or 4 new tracks that are pretty much completed so we are going to get those tracks right before embarking on new material for 2025.
With your fusion-based approach, are there any genres or styles you’re looking to explore or integrate into the Synthesis sound next?
Not really. We listen out for interesting ideas and samples all the time. Whatever sounds interesting and we can add something new or introduce people to an unknown classic by sampling it is OK by us!
Are there any new pieces of gear you’re looking to explore or master in 2025?
Yes, we are going to use AI this year as much as possible. We do not accept the view that AI will destroy music or make it all ‘sound the same’. This is exactly what people said back in the day when sampling took hold of the Dance music scene in the 1990s.
With the recent release of ‘Going Back To My Roots,’ how would you say the track reflects the direction Synthesis is heading in creatively?
That track was pretty much at the more commercial end of what we would like to do with Synthesis. The tracks outlined for release in 2025 are more in sync with what we would like to do moving forward.
What does success look like for the Synthesis project in the year ahead?
Our aim for 2025 is pretty clear. We would be interested in receiving interest from recognized record labels in order to push on to the next level.
Are there any emerging trends or movements within Electronic Music that you find particularly inspiring or aligned with your project?
It looks like there is an emerging split in House music with darker, more Techno infused styles emerging. However, to me at least the Techno stuff sounds all too derivative, so Synthesis will stick to its more funk-oriented tracks.
Looking back on the past year, what was one key moment or lesson for the Synthesis project that you’ll carry into this next chapter?
Never be afraid to experiment!
With a clear vision for 2025, Synthesis is focused on refining their upcoming releases, embracing new tools, and staying true to their signature fusion of styles. As they continue to evolve, their openness to experimentation and dedication to groove-driven music set the stage for an exciting next chapter. Be it reworking past tracks, exploring new production techniques, or seeking the right label partnership, the year ahead promises growth and momentum for them.
