Following the high of Kazantzakis’s recent release, ‘breathing.” on dumb collective., capshun’s new imprint DENALI Records has invited the Russia-based beatmaker for “OBIDA.” This single marks Kazantzakis’ second release on sister label Bonsai Collective, collaborating with them on “GNEV” in April 2019.
“I wanted “OBIDA” to be a club banger with punchy drums with an energetic feel,” shared Kazantzakis in a press statement. “I was inspired by hybrid trap, half-time and bollywood. I like to call this type of music ‘wonky hip hop beats’.”
“OBIDA” is a tenacious trap tune from beginning to end. Throughout the song, Kazantzakis implements enticing and evocative Indian chanting as melodic foreshadowing to the powerful percussion and booming basslines that’ll keep the listener enthralled the entire time. The second drop becomes even heavier, leaving fans wanting more.
