Just in time for the weekend is a couple of fresh singles on Ram Records’ sister label ProgRAM. They come from AJ Mutated, who is also part of the brilliant Mutated Forms. Showcasing a sound that is entirely his own, it’s time to check ‘Bleak’ and ‘Catch 22.’
There is an ominous energy to ‘Bleak,’ which pulls itself out of the silence with a thickly drawn out intro. This leads nicely towards a climax of frenetic beats and sharp bassline plunges, offering some slick contrast. “Catch 22” is a hugely satisfying roller: quick-stepping drums and snappy riffs pull each element together nicely.
