Ephwurd & Swage – ‘Hectic‘ – Ephwurd is back with ‘Hectic,’ another massive festival-ready heater inspired by his undying love for 90’s era dance floor classics. When the German dance duo SNAP released ‘The Power‘ in 1990, it crushed dance charts and became an instant classic. The prestige of MTV was at its height and, suddenly, Eurodance was pumping into living rooms across the globe.

Ephwurd fans already know that Basie’s scholarship on the subject of 90’s dance is encyclopedic, but he absolutely nails this tune. Joining forces with Basie is the bass music wunderkid Swage. With a discography that includes collaborations with Ghastly and Hami and releases on Dim Mak and Play Me Records, Swage has sharpened his production edges in a short amount of time. His work with Ephwurd on ‘Hectic‘ reveals a level of technical wizardry that is concerned with making future classics and dance floor destroyers that will be staples of playlists for years to come.
‘Hectic‘ launches into a four-on-the-floor shufflers paradise immediately and without remorse. A pulsing rhythm grabs you by the throat and your feet lock into a groove that is impossible to escape. As the beat builds, SNAP‘s iconic vocals sample “it’s gettin kinda hectic” pumps through the buildup and all but demands audience participation. The beat drops, and the progressive synth construction pulses relentlessly onward driving audiences into a frenzy of bodies. With what might be one of the more epic breakdowns in recent memory, the tune transforms into a filthy dubstep section pulverizing any leftover sanity you had left.
Ephwurd and Swage have really done it with this one. ‘Hectic‘ just dropped this past Friday on Ephwurd‘s own Eph’d Up Records, but expect to hear this tune in set lists for years to come!
