We have loved and still love ‘Coming Up’ from Tungevaag & Raaban, which is out right now. Thanks to the guys for talking to us in this exclusive interview – read on below to hear more.
Thanks for joining us! Do you remember what first got you into making music? How do you feel your sound and style has changed along the way?
Robbin: I downloaded FL Studio in School 2005 and started for fun because I’ve always listened to how music is built. So I wanted to try it out myself. The sound has been getting better and better every year, and the mastering as well.
Martin: I read about some music programs and tried them out before I finally landed at FL Studio. I watched some tutorials at YouTube and have used the same program for 9 years.
How do you want your music to make people feel?
Robbin/Martin: We want people to feel love and happiness! If they are sad, angry or something else, I want people to get in a good mood when they listen to our music.
Which artists or groups do you particularly dig right now?
Robbin: It’s a lot of artist and groups out there, but Major Lazer is dope!
Martin: Illenium, Dua Lipa and Latino tracks.
Talk us through you go about making music together…
Robbin/Martin: We started to make party songs for students in Norway in 2011, and did it for 4 years. At the end of 2015 we made ‘Samsara’ for a student class and it spread itself around the whole of Scandinavia. We signed with Sony Music and started to release “real” music, the kind that we have always wanted to.
What did you particularly enjoy about making your new track ‘Coming Up?’
Robbin/Martin: To have that acoustic vibe with guitars on our track. It was the first track we released with real guitars in, so that was great fun!
How did you discover Victor Crone? Did you enjoy working on the single with him?
Robbin/Martin: He sent us the top line and we fell in love with it straight away and made it our next single. He’s a really good guy and a really talented singer. We really enjoyed working with him.
Which of your tunes has had the most love so far?
Robbin/Martin: ‘Samsara’ is our most popular song so far if you compare all the streams, but the one I love the most is ‘Beast.’
Most memorable part of 2017 so far?
Robbin: The Weekend festival for the 3rd year running, it’s getting bigger and better each year. We have also played some new markets like South Korea and Indonesia and that’s awesome as well!
Martin: RMF Somnii festival in Portugal on my birthday, I had the great honor to meet Tiësto, Mike Williams and Kura. It was a really awesome, good weekend!
Do you have any more originals or remixes on the horizon right now you can tell us about?
Robbin/Martin: We have a lot of tracks we’re working on right now, we don’t know which one we will release next but I promise you will not be disappointed 😉
How was your summer? What else are you looking forward to in the coming months, heading in to next year?
Robbin/Martin: Summer has been perfect! We had many great shows and good meetings with other artists and people. We’re looking forward to the continued success of our single ‘Coming Up’ that is out now and to release some of our new tunes in the beginning of next year. And to continue doing all our gigs!
