Paul Oakenfold – Generations – For over three decades now, Paul Oakenfold has shaped the electronic dance music soundscapes and all of it’s encompassing genres and continues to remain one of the leading forces in the wider global music scene. His works have taken him from the DJ booth of the worlds’ hottest nightspots and festivals to producing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbuster movies. Now, he releases a massive compilation album that highlights those decades, with Generations.
As a DJ and producer who has a diversity that has earned him two Grammy nominations, Oakenfold has produced and remixed for the likes of U2, Madonna and The Happy Mondays. He’s remixed Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones and Justin Timberlake in addition to having released over 20 DJ mix compilations. He has also been responsible for creating film scores for the likes of The Bourne Identity, Matrix Reloaded, Shrek 2, Swordfish and Collateral.
Rewind to 30 years ago when Paul Oakenfold set out on a trip to Ibiza, what he learned there would change the electronic dance music scene in the UK, Europe and ultimately the world, forever. Now, it’s safe to say that with Generations, Oakenfold is the sovereign of DJ culture and is its’ most recognizable icon.
