Whiney – “Teddy’s Gate” – Nest – Following the inaugural co-release with S.P.Y‘s BRSTL Hardcore in 2015, NEST HQ is honored to be linking up once again with the reputable Hospital Records and their imprint, Med School, for a two-track EP from the 21-year-old Drum & Bass producer from Coventry known as Whiney.
A classically trained musician since the age of seven, Whiney approaches drum & bass with graduated musicality and a diverse breadth of sound derived from longstanding inspirations such as Pendulum, Chase & Status, and his all-time favorite D&B label, Breakbeat Kaos. In the title track and A-side to “Teddy’s Gate,” Whiney exhibits his proficiency with liquid, as the pristine vocals from Geneva-based singer/songwriter, LaMeduza, gracefully lead gentle, spacious piano and sharp percussion. In the B-side, ‘Monty Zoomers,’ Whiney shows off his darker side, taking a more classic drum & bass approach with an assemblage of serrated snarls and hyped vocal samples.
With his debut EP forthcoming this December on Med School plus a collaboration slated for release on Hospital Records, Whiney is poised for a huge second half to 2016.
