Welcome to the seventh installment of A Weekly Review. This week, we’ve got highly interesting vibes from PrototypeRaptor, exceptional Drum&Bass (sort of) from Former, and another hard hitting Drum&Bass tune from Optiv & BTK. Let’s jump right in.
PrototypeRaptor – Velvet Killer
I love songs like this. Quick percussion that doesn’t get old is one of my favorite things in the world. This song nails it in unique fashion. It’s not exactly the ‘dark’ Drum&Bass I’m usually a fan of – although it does have its moments – but it’s ok. PrototypeRaptor is one of the most unique artists I’ve ever heard, and this is definitely my favorite song from the interesting artist.

Former – Lanark
I don’t really know what to call this song. It’s part of a totally out-there EP by an artist by the name of ‘Former’ and ‘Lanark’ is one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard. The whole way through I’m thinking “what?” yet at the same time I’m thinking “this is awesome”. Check this one out and see what you think!

Optiv & BTK – Gamma Rays
Absolutely one of the most fun Drum&Bass songs I’ve heard, ‘Gamma Rays’ features simple-on-the-surface sound design that isn’t too crazy but flows perfectly and lays down an awesome groove. The man talking about gamma rays throughout the song is kind of funny and awesome at the same time, and adds a lot to the song. This is one of my favorite songs to just listen to when I’ve got a moment, and now I’m sharing it with you.
You can buy this song on Beatport, accessible from the Soundcloud page.
