Today, Canadian artist, Benjamin Shir better known by his stage name DAIJO has unveiled his first track of 2021, “Black James Bond” featuring vocalist Qwiss on Skink Records (an imprint owned by Showtek) This energy packed single is gleaming with bright punchy synths, a ridiculous build and a euphoric drop. It’s an infectious club song that will have you and your friends dancing the night away. DAIJO and Qwiss’ message behind “Black James Bond” was to inspire and remind minorities and people of color around the world that they can become anything they want – even if that’s to be a Black James Bond! It’s a message that is relatable by many and is guaranteed to inspire! It’s safe to say you’ll be hearing “Black James Bond” for months to come!
DAIJO explains, “Black James Bond was inspired by the idea that anyone of any race could embody the spirit of James Bond. This song was written prior to the tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police and the subsequent protests that followed, however at the time of recording, police brutality on people of colour was a major theme behind the track. As two minorities and people of colour, Daijo and Qwiss wanted to empower the listener and remind the world that Black or Middle Eastern, boy or girl, minorities can also aspire to be the next James Bond.”
