LIDO album – 23-year-old virtuoso, LIDO, will release his highly anticipated debut album, Everything, via Pelican Fly / Because on October 7th. Everything is a cohesive composition of 11 tracks; each showcasing and transcending LIDO‘s distinctive, multi-faceted production style. Every track represents an intricate chapter of LIDO‘s story; resulting in a raw, emotionally honest debut. Inspired by a difficult period in LIDO‘s life, Everything sonically explores the emotional intricacies surrounding a break-up.
It’s an unconventional breakup album. It’s not an album about a girl, it’s an album because of a girl, my healing process after losing somebody that meant a lot to me. It’s called ‘Everything‘ because it’s the story of when you let somebody be everything to you, you risk losing that everything and being left with just yourself.
The LP speaks volumes on LIDO‘s talent as a multi-instrumentalist, a producer and a creative mind. Standout track ‘Murder,’ lulls the listener into a playful reverie with its piercing vocals that bounce through the track before twisting into a bass heavy cacophony of sound. LIDO rounds out ‘Murder‘ with the addition of an addictive third element to the track; adding an unexpected final string chorus that leaves the track on a gloriously sweet note, fully showcasing his dexterous production ability. Seamlessly leading into the sonically smoother offering ‘Dye,’ LIDO melts an emotive R&B-style vocal with bouncy synths and a pulsing kick drum. Penultimate track ‘Angel‘ lays bare LIDO‘s sensual vocals; the effectiveness of the track lies in the simplicity of the buildup to a frenetic crescendo, which is fast becoming LIDO‘s sonic signature.
Lead single ‘Crazy,’ set global media alight; garnering support from a host of notable titles including Billboard, Hypetrak, Complex and Huffington Post, as well as radio champions Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1, Jamz Supernova at BBC 1xtra and Zane Lowe on Beats 1. 2016 has seen LIDO embark on a sold-out US tour, including a stop at Coachella where he premiered Everything with a special guest appearance from Jaden Smith, producer for Chance the Rapper and A$AP Ferg, whilst also executive produce Halsey‘s, ‘Badlands.’ It’s no surprise this up-and-comer is heralded as one of the brightest stars of the future and his album, Everything, one of the most anticipated debuts of 2016.
